Help with DVD burning: file types

Hello,

I just got a DVD burner, and I was attempting to burn various random video files I have on my computer that I've collected over the years. They are in various file formats (mov, mpeg, mpg, avi). I am using Roxio DVD builder in the 6.2 suite.

When I drag the files onto the project, though, I get an error message for each one: "This file may not play correctly on your TV." It says that it's related to "File Quality" -- video bitrate, audio bitrate, frame size, and frame rate. So I guess my question is, if I burn them anyway, will they play, and just look bad? Or do I have to convert them to a specific file format before I import them into the project to get them to play on the DVD player at all?

Sorry if these are overly basic. I'm not familiar with video files.

Thanks!
