The guy who wrote that is an idiot. Go to chapter 1, part 3. He has some stupid assumption that because Linux is free, every piece of software must be free as well.
from Chapter1, part 3:

Now correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't Unreal Tournament for Linux cost money?? Maybe this guy should have spent more than 1 hour on the internet before writing a book about something he doesn't understand.
