I would not completely agree, it is that simple; acording to these benchmarks the X800xt does perform better in more situations than the geforce 6800ultra but it does not do better by the same margin, refer to the following.

While the X800XT does scores better more often, when it does it only scores an average of 6.5 FPS better. The GeForce 6800 scores better less often but when it does it scores an average of 13.4 FPS better. The types of games you play also makes a big difference in which would be a better choice for you. Based on the number of benchmarks won the X800XT could be considered marginally better. But also consider this, if you were to add all of the FPS of all of the benchmarks you would find that the GeForce 6800 Ultra would have 109.5 FPS more than the X800XT. It is just a matter of perspective.
