If the LED wires are put on in reverse, the LEDs will not burn. Turn the connections around where they connect to the pin-outs and see if that will make them burn.
LEDs are a DC type "light", and will only light up if the two wires for each one has the positive and negative voltage going to the correct wire. If they are installed wrong, the LEDs are not damaged, they just will not burn.
A helpful hint...when asking for help here at the forums, please try to keep down the "rest of the story" We cannot see what all you are talking about, and it leaves us wondering just what you are asking. Try to pinpoint exactly what you need, and write specifics about that one thing only...after that is solved, then maybe start chattering away about all of that other stuff.
