Yeah water can screw up electronics, but not as badly as it does in the movies. My little sister spilled an entire cup of water right into my open computer once, it completely messed up, i let it dry for a couple days, and it worked fine. Maybe it melted a peice of the battery, or discharged it in the water? If i was you, id maybe rinse it with some clean water, with the battery out, and leave it for 2-3 days?
