Problem connecting Canon A75 to pc

As I posted earlier I purchased a Canon A75 digital camera for my wife for xmas. I thought this was a good idea. I need to set up the included USB cable to download pictures to the pc. Problem is it will only work if I disconnect all other USB devices from the pc, otherwise the camera is "not found". I've re-installed all software and twain drivers numerous times. Even installed it on a 2nd pc. Canon's website said to unhook other USB devices for the installation but once it is installed and working if I hook the printer, scanner and another media card reader back up the camera is once again "not found". I'm running Win2k on a 3200+ with 512mb of PC3700 ram and the USB ports are version 1.1
I don't want to be removing the memory card from the camera constantly as it will be used a lot and the little door wouldn't take the constant use. Anyone here been thru this? This thing is just about to go back to the store.

UPDATE: I have determined there is a conflict between my USB scanner and the camera. The camera is recognized and transfers pictures fine as long as the scanner is unhooked. At this point it would seem to be a Twain driver issue?
