This is going to be a gaming computer??   I would strongly recommend going with an Athlon 64. It would be so much better, because at lower resolutions the computer relies more on the CPU. So your performance would be so much better. However, if you do go Athlon 64, I don't know whether to recommend Socket 754 or 939. It depends on your budget. MSI has a Socket 754 w/ PCI-E and a 939. It's only $90, but it should be enough for you, because I plan to get it!
For the CPU I recommend getting a 3000+ or a 3200+. Good balance of price to performance. (And the 3200+ can reach 3500+ speeds, if you wanted to  ) |
