I'm using a D-LINK wireless router/G Access point.

I have 1 xp box, 1 xp laptop, 2 2k laptops.

They are in all different areas of the house. When I turn encryption on, all the laptops get about 15-20mbps in the location that they are in. Once I move the laptop outside, or downstairs....I lose signal. I usually always go into the basement for quiet time to do some work on the laptop.

Normally, with encryption off, I can go 2 houses down and still have decent signal. So i'll be compromising distance for encryption...but i'm sure I can purchase a signal booster for a broaders range right?
