When's the last time that was a problem.
I have an old Compaq here that has a PII in it. It has cache in a slot on the mobo. I threw a PIII 450 in it and it recognizes it as a 300 because of the bus. When 2000 is booting it hangs. Could the problem be having the 2 sources of cache? BIOS has no way of turning off cache. The placement of the cache on the board would require me removing everything from the case to get to it so I haven't tried simply pulling it out. These people can't afford anything so getting the PIII to work would make everyone happy. Can it be done, alternately might it not even be cache that is causing the problem?
EDIT - I put the PII 233 back in and it boots all the way, so I'm looking at cache to be the problem even more so now.
