JP is right (as far as airing this).
What a lot of people have forgotten is that Cheney and Rumsfeld have been at this whole thing before (the terrorization of the American people via threats of WMD's) during the Nixon/Ford administration.
Back then, it was about a Russian nuclear submarine, which purportedly had a sonar-covering feature, and could not be detected. Quite the
Weapon of Mass Destruction, eh? Cheney and Rumsfeld were members in Nixon's Cabinet (I can't remember what their positions were, but they sure had Nixon's ear.).
The two of them got Paul Wolfowitz (that name sound familiar? hahaha...) to validate the claim that
we were all gonna die, and Nixon freaked, but held on against Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz' imprecations to declare war. Nixon also was not real keen on their demands to alter the United States Constitution...
Then Nixon got shook out of office, and Gerald Ford got the chair...and this little trio went to work on him, as well. To Ford's credit, it didn't work with him, either.
So they waited...for a dunderhead to reach the White House...
And got one.
And here we are today...at war, Constitutionally restricted, and everybody thinking the boogeyman is coming for us...
Looks like their plan worked. Ya gotta admire
persistence, I guess.
