for future reference, you do not want to format a hd if you are looking to recover data, that deletes the data (well it actually doesn't delete it unless you do a low level format, but that is a different story). Hopefully the data recovery software can recover it for you. As you will probably find, the software is pretty spendy and even though u can find tons of free downloads, most, if not all, will only recover a few files and then require you to purchase the product to use it to recover everything.
