I too bought a the same laptop HP nc6000 and it had a bios password and the trick you are speaking of worked for me , I simply removed the power battery and then changed the hard drive and uplugged the plug thats plugged into the board , which by the way can be reached by lifting up the key board , and i waited about 15 minutes then turned the unit on without the battery and without replugging the plug that i unplugged under the key board, once i turned the unit on i could see it performing the memory count , i already had a Windows XP disc loaded in the cd rom so it booted right from the disc , i finised installing windows and replugged the wire andi was done .........  |
