Hey all, great advice. I had the same symptoms (working fine, suddenly stopped, no spin-up), but I didnt have the musical tune. I tried all the suggestions (freeze overnight, tap it, spin it) but no joy. Finally I swapped the SATA control board for PATA control board of the same same series (120GB Diamondmax Plus 9) and, with the exception of a few bad blocks, R-Studio got ALL my data back.... WAHOO

. I don't know it can be done with any of yours, but might be worth a try before spending hundreds on professional recovery? And anyways you'll have a new drive left at the end of it
