While the resolution you gave as the monitors's is closer to 16 : 10 ?

But 1600 :1200 is an UXGA resolution, which means that you can devide it into four quadrants of 800 X 600, or halfs of 800 X 1200 (vertical), and 1600 X 600 (horizontal).
