I have always been a fan of Dells and IBM's, i think IBM/Lenovo (its new name) are the best laptops, a bit more $ but well work it with all their features and such. Very loaded laptops. My dad has had a couple HP's and 1 compaq and all of them i havent really liked that much. Toshiba makes a decent laptop, and companies like VooDoo who make custom gaming laptops which are good are very pricy, just like alienware. But for the most part the Dell XPS series laptops are a great bet for gaming and just plain old work too
