| A Little Clarification Please
Hey Guys, I consider myself to be better with computers then the Average north american but i still dont understand fully the many details of some computer components and possible future technology. This is where u guys come in. I found this article, ( http://www.tgdaily.com/2006/09/18/intel_laser_chips/) and although it seemed interesting, i need someone to "translate" some things for me. First of all, what exactly is this chip planned to be used for, is it a layout for future processors or just north or southbridge type chips, or even a new purpose chip that would be added to future motherboards for a purpose we never had a chip for before? also did i read correctly that they plan on having 100 lasers on a chip, with each laser performing at 100GB/s meaning the chip would operate at 10,000 Gb/s???? any other info u feel would be relevant is more than welcome.
