Yeah, going straight to 3.6 is not a good idea. Not only is that a high overclock for the RAM but also a high OC for the CPU in which case when you do have problems, it will be harder to nail down where the problem is.
What I generally do when I OC is make sure the ram does not run out of spec. I find the max speed for my CPU first. Once I find a good speed with acceptable temps and voltage, I then have my baseline OC speed. I then start messing around with lowering the multi, messing with dividers, and incraseing the FSB even further all the while not going abvoe whatever I found my max CPU oc to be. Once I hit a wall again then I know i've reached my memory's limit.
