Ok, I installed the standard 56k v90 driver ignoring MS's bitching. It works pretty good.

Strange though, when I check my connection by hovering the mouse over the modem icon in the systray it reports a connection of 115200 bps. I have never seen anything over 56000 before. Usually its 48000 to 49333 on my main computer.

I tried downloading a file from Matrox to see what kind of speed I would get. I got normal speeds, starting very high 15k then dropping down to settle in at 5k.

I guess I'm going to stop right here. I'm done fooling with this d* thing.

I want to get this computer shipped off to my sister early this week. She will be using it at a college with a network connection, but later she will probably need a modem as well.

Thanks guys for your help. It's been fun. Not to much fun, but a good learning eperience.
