Well personally I've never bought in to the "biggest baddest" game. I'm not a gamer so there really isn't much need for me to constantly upgrade. I'll add a few key components to keep my system up to speed with the times but other than that I don't go overboard. IMO its nice to have that raw power at hand but if its not used then whats the point?
BTW my last three comps were
1. p3 440mhz intel board 384mb ram 16mb vid card
2.athlon xp2000 on ecs board 512mb ram 32mb vid card
3.athlon xp2000 epox board 768mb ram have 2 of those running now 1. has a 32mb card the other a 9800 pro
when I do upgrade I try to reuse as much as possible and if I can't then its usually a budget mid to low end build and I have yet to pay more than $10 for a monitor all the ones I'm running now are a couple years old and were give aways.
