Sometimes when i play a 3d game, like Battlefield 2142 or World of Warcraft, my computer hangs. The screen goes black, sometimes i can still hear the ingame sound continue for a few seconds and sometimes i only hear krackles and a beep. The fan of the VGA card goes into high rpm.
When i restart the pc seems to work good, but when i start a 3d game or program (even the 3d app in the catalist cp) the pc locks up very quickly.
Also worth mentioning: When i open the cp and go to ati overdrive, a few tenths of a sec i see the normal screen, the bars to overclock memory and cpu. but then is says "ATI Overdrive capabilities have not been properly initialized yet. Please try again later" I never saw the right screen, so i didn't overclock before.
Things i tried:
- Updating all drivers and the Motherboard bios
- Pulling the plug after a lockup, so there is no power to the pc anymore, then turn it on again.
- feeling the vga card how hot is was > never too hot.
- logging the temperatures of the card with "rivatuner", tey show the temps are normal all the way too.
- Romoving all memory sticks and use one other module.
My Specs:
