NC6000 Power on shut off issue problem

Did anyone ever find a fix to this? I installed drivers for a usb Bluetooth device when it flipped off on me. This thing is in pieces from me trying to limit what could be wrong. It's 2 months out of warranty too. I'm looking for the chip HP put in to make your computer defective after the warranty expires! So far the only fix I've seen is a new motherboard where the new one could be just as bad. Until I hear otherwise, I have for sale a gig of ram, 40gb drive, great screen, dvd player/cd burner, and a wireless card!

After several tries, it will boot (the green power on light turns on). At that point, everything is fine and it runs flawlessly.

It has been suggested that this might indicate that the hard drive is marginal, and is not always responding to the initial hardware detection. I'm not sure I believe this, because of the behavior of the power on light.
