I removed the ram, harddrive, wireless, battery, then unplugged and put battery back in. Would the power connector be somewhere that connects to both battery and the supply? That i will look into. Sounds like my weekend project! Anyone do this so far? Part numbers?

sounds like a power supply issue to me. I do not know if the PS is replaceable separate from the MoBo. If you have swapped RAM to be sure it is not shorting out the board there is little left to test yourself without sending it in to HP or swapping the board yourself.
