I'm with Chuckie. This bill needs to be defeated. The current laws need to be enforced. Border Patrol needs to be allowed to do their jobs.
This "fast-track" background check is an utter fantasy - does anyone
really believe our government is capable of completing 12 million secure, thorough background checks in 24 hours? Is no one scared to death of what this means??
These criminals knowingly break and disrespect our laws the moment they set foot on U.S. soil. Does anyone really believe that giving them amnesty will magically cause them to respect us and our laws? NO. We would be saying "hey it's ok - we'll reward you, lawbreaker, because you're already here - just cut in front of those doing it the right way." Great message and respect to those law-abiding immigrants who have done and are doing it the right, legal way.
The law is already in place from 1986 and our government has not allowed enforcement, and in fact have tied and punished the hands of enforcement for their own interests - not the country's best interests! Are we supposed to believe them now? How arrogant of them! Bush and Congress are a serious failure on this issue and are not operating in the best interests of our country - their secret back-room, pork-barrel, special-interests' deals to get this thing shoved down our throats must be intense.
I am angry as hell at GWB and those in government supporting this bill. If they want it then let THEM pay the $25 BILLION this will ADD to our already over-burdened services and taxpayers because the politicians and the criminals are the only ones winning here.
