What part don't you get? That guide is pretty self explanatory, and when I said don't worry about the switch I mean the one they use in the guide just use a wire or something. You jump the power supply and the fans on it should spin. If you've got a voltmeter it would be handy to test the output but if not at least you can see if the power supply is working.
I'd say throw your old on in butt I doubt it would power the new card and you don't want to fry another power supply.
