Hello people! Just registered here to bring you this "update".
DISCLAIMER: I'm swedish so please forgive me for not using the right technical tems in this post.

I recently got a nc6000 from a customer of mine who got tired of not being able to boot it correctly. Now, after reading through this thread, I found a way to get the b*stard starting AND staying alive! Now I know that this will probably not help 100% of the nc6000 (and later nc model) users out there, but it did the trick for me.

Like so many of you already said, applying preasure to the lower left side of the fan assembly made you boot the laptop up. Have you tried PULLING the fan assembly's lower left upwards? I used an aprox. 5-6mm high "nut" (you know, bolts and nuts??) and placed it underneath the fan assembly's lower left corner and tightened the screws of it hard. By doing this I have been able to keep the machine "alive" for two days straight now and I've been able to carry it with me without it dying for me, even "dropping" it on the table. Only problem is that you MAY have to open the laptop and re-tighten the screws once in a while to keep it going.

Anyway, my problem now is that when I carry it the touchpad goes haywire. Anyone else that have the same problem?

About the "driver bay lock", have you tried password@ changer (free downloadable program)?
