When's the last time you dusted out your tower? That will kill your system quicker then anything else.(well, not counting liquids) ~.~
If you let the fans get to dusty, there is a chance that they'll quit working on you. Which can lead to overheating and eventually hardware failure.
So pop open the side of your case, and get some air in the can. See if that helps at all..
Also just look around inside your case, see if you can spot a fan not working. Or the one that is causing the louder noise. If you find it, try cleaning it also. If that doesn't work, then just replace it. Fans a uber cheap...
