I agree entirely.  Ad-Aware and Spybot should clean nearlly all spyware problems. For the bugs that slip through the net i reccomend you run HijackThis (can be downloaded here: http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/programs.php) and post the results.
I used to run AVG, seemed to do a good job, but then decided to go with Kaspersky IS becasue of the better interface and better inbuilt protection. I've never looked back since.... Apart from the fact that it costs money, and AVG is free.
