I didn't even pick up on that one. The new 6000, 6050 and 6250 that are supposed to be out later this year are phenom based, but none are quad core.

Might as well throw the $30 at a board you know will have support for the am2+ cpus not to mention the potential for future upgrades. Nothing worse than throwing money at a dead end! It might work with the processors listed above but AFAIK it would have to be am2+ compatible to run anything quad core and I believe it would even have to be am2+ based to run those.
