I am sorry but I take issue with this.
If the racial makeup of people in jail were much different then that would be racial discrimination. people in jail are overwhelmingly there because they did harm to their community.
So if minority is the majority in prison then that is because Minorities were preying on their fellow minority members. Black on black crime is what causes the desparity in jails. the number of minorities in jail for crimes against the majority community (aka situations where juries are discriminatly puttn away some evil "black mongrul" for lookin at a "white woman" or for being in the wrong town.) {PS the black mongrul comment is a reference to something that might have been used in a racist court it is not meant to imply my feelings}
There may be some folks in prison for racist reasons but in the end that is not what makes the population imbalanced. People in prison are in prison because overwhelmingly they did harm to their community and are being punished for it.
White crimes don't go unpunished (the majority of white crime is against white folks)
Black crimes don't go unpuninshed (the majority of black crime is again against blacks)
if it is your contention that black/what ever minority crimes should not go unpunished to improve the ratio in prison then you are quite strange???
that would mean no longer punishing guilty people for hurting minority people. would that not be a crime in and of itself??????
