It's not to make anyone feel guilty, Bingo. It's just something called "reality." To add to MTA's list, the HUGE disparity between sentences for crack cocaine vs. powder cocaine account for a chunk of this. Middle-class kids (black OR white) are not likely to get harsh sentences for drug-related crimes; they will probably get a diversion program, if anything.
The big difference between our views here is that many of you seem to live in Fantasyland -- where racism was eradicated from our society back in the '60s, and now you poor white kids are being discriminated against. I've got news for you -- "Driving while Black" is still a "crime" in many parts of our country. Informed people know that. Bingo, you may be a "normal" person, but you are also particularly ill-informed. The unfortunate thing is that you seem to revel in this.
