It's the same swift-boat noise machine that created doubt that Kerry, who was a decorated war hero who was wounded in battle and saved other Navy men's lives, was somehow less patriotic that Bush, whose family did everything in their connected power to keep their son away from the front lines.

That being said, the Clintons are nothing if not power hungry. I don't recall any looting in the Clinton Administration but I certainly see Bush's friends in Haliburton and other companies war profiteering, which you don't mention. By the way, on 'Clinton resigning,' he had no reason to resign and the day that the Senate voted to impeach him (which failed) he had a 75% approval rating.

If anyone as denigrated the good name of the Office of the President it is the current half-wit President who has brought American respect and American influence to a low.

Moreover, polls taken this early are worthless. In June 1992, Ross Perot was the front-runner and Clinton was third.

McCain isn't running as a conservative Democrat, he's running as a Bush Republican with slight differences. He favors all of Bush's major policies -- Iraq, tax breaks for the wealthy that he wants to make permanent, etc.

If you notice the Republican side of the recent North Carolina primary, you will notice that about 25% of Republican voters didn't vote for McCain, even though he's got the nomination sewn up.

Before the Dems won Congress in 2006, I met a wing-nut who asserted that same paranoia -- if the Dems take Congress, we're going to be attacked. That's just knuckle-dragging logic. The fact is, the Republicans dragged their feet on protecting the country. The first thing the 2006 Democratic Congress did was pass the 9/11 Commission's recommendations.

Who created this "tanking US economy"? Seven years of Bush's failed policies that increased government spending while cutting taxes on the wealthy. The country never got either the GDP growth or the jobs created that those tax-cuts promised (gee, who would have guessed that?)

Bush's predecessor (Clinton) handed him a government budget that was balanced and an economy that created jobs and was growing.

Clinton increased anti-terrorist activities and wanted to increase the intelligence community even more but was stopped by the Republican Congress.
