Well, I had the same problem:
Windows XP complained about lack of space on the hard disk.
Found a 3.9 GigaByte (!) trace.log.
'tracelog.exe -x' stops the logging process as you pointed out;
but unfortunately after rebooting trace.log went back to its nasty
behaviour of growing like a (disk)cancer
My solution to the problem: A very simple Visual Basic program
(called StopTraceLog.exe) that runs the command line
"tracelog.exe -x". A shortcut to this miniprogram in the Startup
folder stops the logging process right after booting.
Anybody experiencing the same problem who would like a copy
of the program may drop me an e-mail and I will send her/him a
copy. | Thanks for the feedback.
I checked myself if the trace.log on my system was resurected, but it still not on my system. Do you have XP home perhaps? I killed on the pro version and it didn't come back. |
