Hello, I too have been trying to upgrade to 4GB of ram. After purchasing and installing the system won't boot with the additional ram. This is the response from Acer:
"The hardware in your system is capable of accepting up to 4GB of RAM. However, as this unit shipped with a 32bit version of Windows it will not be able to properly recognize or support 4GB or memory. Unfortunately, this is a limitation in the design of all 32bit versions of windows. As this was the shipping configuration from the factory, Acer America qualifies this unit to function with a maximum of 2GB of RAM. If you would like to install and utilize more than 2GB of RAM a 64bit operating system will be required. However, please be aware that we are licensed by Microsoft to supply and support only the OEM version of the Windows operating system that shipped with your computer. This
version is referenced on the certificate of authenticity sticker on the bottom or side of your Acer computer. If you wish to change the operating system you will need to purchase a retail version of the operating system you desire. Please be aware that some drivers may be missing after the installation of a non-OEM operating system. If this occurs, you may be able to locate the needed drivers by going to AcerPanAm.com under Drivers & Downloads. From here, search for your model of computer. If the drivers you need are not provided there, or those offered do not resolve the problem, we do not have others available."
I just thought I'd pass this along. |
