Celeron Swapping

Hi, I'm new to this and I'm trying to figure out if I can simply swap a newer, faster celeron processor into my machine. I have an emachine that I don't care about, but I'm trying to learn about upgrading and overclocking.
It now has a celeron 633mhz, 128k L2 cache, 66mhz bus, 370 socket and it is a FC-PGA type.
I tried an older one - 466mhz, 128k L2 cache, 66mhz bus, 370 socket, but it was a PPGA type. It worked. So, will a different bus speed work? A different cache? What about a FC-PGA2 type? Any other factors to consider?

Thanks for any help,
Gregg
