Craigslist sez... Quote: ** CRAIGSLIST ADVISORY --- AVOID SCAMS BY DEALING LOCALLY
** Avoid: wiring money, cross-border deals, work-at-home
** Beware: cashier checks, money orders, escrow, shipping
** More Info: craigslist | about > scams | Person to person sales over the internet with cross-shipping is a bad idea. My rule of thumb is that if I really really have to; only do so with an amount I am comfortable losing.
I purchased 2 things that way. One was from a well known member at Sysopt back in the day (when they had a traders forum). I mailed a check and he mailed a PS2 and games. The other instance was for some technical publications. Found them on CL in Chicago. Not the sort of stuff scammers usually use for honey. I sent the guy $$$ via paypal and he shipped. It was on the order of $150 or so. It worked out.
Scammer or not, I'd never buy something like a car, sight unseen, over the internet.
Stick in your area!!! Good luck. |
