LC might have been okay assuming Nissan actually built the transmission to deal with the added stress. All LC basically does is drop the trans into gear at rev, making it essentially a partially computer controlled neutral drop.

Hard launching a supercar regardless of an automatic, manual, DSG, etc. transmission can be an expensive prospect for unknowing drivers. For example, the Carrera GT is known for blowing up clutches. The contrast is Porsche was (still is?) typically covering the clutches under warranty, as Porsche padded plenty of profit to cover such warranty repairs on a high-performance vehicle. IMO, Porsche also expects its cars to be driven hard.

AFAIK, even the Ferrari Enzo clutch is only factory rated for something like three hard launches, and the owner is probably going to be on the hook for repairs regardless of warranty. The difference there is the owner can probably afford the repair bill if he can afford the Enzo.
