Yes, I know what you mean by that but what I meant was only in terms of future proofing for him. He seemed caught in between using a regular Dual Core to save money, so might get something like Pentium 2200 Allendale. Then he may in the future decide to get the Q6600 if it goes down in price, so it's future proofed in terms of his computer and the socket 775 will still work out for him and will give him room to be flexible. Though I believe that in terms of gaming the Q6600 will be worth the extra money for him.

However I know exactly what you mean that technology runs faster than both what we and our wallets can keep up with.
