That hard drive is the old version of the one I picked. Its a little slower. But not that much. I would try to get the new one though, if you can. As for the CPU, with a budget like that the AMD quad core is going to be much more worth it in the future. In any case its faster at the moment as well. You might as well get it since your budget is nice and high.
You also don;t need a sound card. Onboard is going to be more than enough unless you have a really good set of speakers. In that case, you should know that Creative really sucks. Overpriced and crappy drivers that many people complain cause a whole bunch of problems. Their drivers also come with a ton of stuff you don't need that just slows down your computer.
If you must get a card, here. But you will really not be able to tell much of a difference unless you have sensitive ears and a really good set of speakers.
This one would be more for gaming Newegg.com - ASUS Xonar DX 7.1 Channels PCI Express Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
And this one more for music (I personally love this brand) Newegg.com - HT OMEGA STRIKER 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card - Sound Cards
