PullMyFoot, the board you linked to was actually an x58 board, probably just copied the wrong link. I didn't know that the Phenom IIs were out today, but that is a good option, still not as good as Intel's highend, but not too far behind.
Most of what PullMyFoot recommended was good. I would look for a sound card from Auzentech if you want one though.
