You would be surpsied with newer laptops these days.
My Asus came with a 9 cell battery and it last 3 hours 45 minutes when watching movies, and around 1 hour 30 minutes when gaming, that is in Extreme Turbo mode as well and almost 2 hours in normal mode.
And when running the Splashtop mode on my laptop (Instant boot linux) The battery can alst well over 5 hours when just surfing the net)
