I just started getting that exact "failed to install" message since i reformatted and tried to install BF2 (cd-rom version) on windows 7. Fails like that at the exact same spot right after putting in disc #2. I also have 2 seperate copies of BF2 Cd-Rom, one of which has quite a few scratches on it and the other is nearly brand new. Does the same thing everytime, never had a problem on winXP.
