| Them Brits...
So I've found myself corresponding with this delightful (self-described) 'Yorkshire lass' and we just wound up a chat session. It went on for about 1-1/2 hours, and I got interested in the slang she was slingin'.... "It's not slang, it's DIALECT!" she retorted.
She was making sandwiches for the kids lunch tomorrow; wrote, "Cheese or ham?"
I wrote, "Cheese AND ham, said the wealthy Yank!"
She responded with something inappropriate (here) but it was freakin' funny.
Anyway, she responded to my inquiry about British slang (Me: Do you call sandwiches 'sarnies'? Her: I'm inclined to call them 'Butties'...Me: (Very inappropriate comment) Her: (Very inappropriate comment, plus funnier)
So she gives me this, says "figure this out".... TYKE'S MOTTO:
Hear all, see all. say nowt.
Eat all, sup all, pay nowt.
An if iver tha does owt for nowt
allus do it for thisen!"
It totally defeated me. I wrote, **slack jawed**....
