Hi everyone!
I just got a new power supply to replace an older model that was a 650watt (I paid 35$ for it new so I know it can't really be a 650). The replacement was a Raidmax 500 watt, it had a lot of good feedback from buyers at newegg, and the specs seem good, the 12v has 2 rails, seemed pretty beefy. Cost was around 60$.
I installed it into the case, and after plugging everything in and hitting the power switch the LED for the psu turns on, fans turn on and things start powering up for a split second, and then it goes dead, won't turn back on until I turn off the power supply for a good minute.
Could that my aging system is really drawing over 500 watts and the Raidmax can't keep up? Or is it seem that the Raidmax is doa.
Sys specs:
AMD Athlon xp 2500+
1.5 gb ddr 333
Nvidia Geforce 7600gs agp
Flatron w1952TO Widescreen LCD monitor.
DVD-R/W
160gb Seagate HDD IDE, 7200rpm 8mb cache
I plugged things back into the older psu and it works fine (as fine as it was--one of the reasons for the replacement is that half the molex connectors in the older psu don't supply any power at all)
Thanks for any insight or help in advance.
