Latest - disabled kaspersky on the server and connected with no problem....opened a ticket with Kaspersky and they initially stated that Kaspersky does not have problems with RDP and VPN...as they day progressed he finally had me change a prticular file:

Please do the following, This will require a reboot….

reboot into safe mode and rename kl1.sys to kl1.old [system32/drivers] and reboot into normal mode
Disregard any error messages from KAV and do not open interface for testing purposes.
recheck condition several times

or

Disable self-defense [right click K icon in system tray > settings > options > …Exit KAV [right click K icon in system tray]
rename kl1.sys to kl1.old [system32/drivers]
reboot
Disregard any error messages from KAV and do not open interface for testing purposes.
recheck condition several times

I did this and it seems to have fixed it. Will keep you posted - and thanks.
