IDE drives

yes I know, this question is prolly simple, but this is my first experience with IDE chains.
I have a Mo-Bo with 2 IDE sockets and a Floppy socket. I have 1 HDD hooked up to the primary IDE socket and a CD-ROM drive on the second. I just got a FREE CD-RW (www.spoofee.com) and tried to install it.
Now, when I have both of the CD drives hooked up via the 2 sockets on the IDE cable Windows sees what looks like one drive but when it is double clicked both drives go active and the explorer freezes. But each drive hooked up seprately works.....

Keep in mind i have no experience with this = / all my other CD-RWs are external, heh.
