I have a 3.2 gb JTS harddrive that seems to have died, but I would like to try all possible remedies to retrieve some data.

No matter how I install it (secondary master, slave or cable select), at boot I get the message:

"Secondary Master Drive - ATAPI Incompatible
Press F1 to Resume"

When I press F1, the machine finishes the boot sequence as normal, but the secondary drive is not visible, either by Windows or Norton Disk Doctor.

Question: Is it dead, or is there something else I can try?
(I have tried changing cables, computers, etc.)
