Sure, I've seen your posts that said Mandrake configures your Radeon automatically. The thing is it's usually easier to get games to run with NVidia hardware. A good example was getting HL to work in wine in Linux. The readme stated I didn't need to do anything extra to get it to work with Nvidia drivers. If you had a 3DFx card or an ATi card you had some experimenting to do. I think the same thing was true with NWN. The game would often work with ATi's cards but it was a lot more troublesome than it was using NVidia's cards. I can't think of any more examples off the top of my head but I know they're out there. To me it's worth setting up the NVidia drivers (which has gotten REALLY easy with the new installer) for the first time when you install the OS if you'll have less troubles on down the line.
