Expect I will be asking for lots of Debian help, having never really used it much (and being a bit of a Slacker  ).
Is upgrading from potato to sid or woody as simple as changing the relavant source locations & running an "apt-get dist-upgrade" or something similar (can't remember exact command)? If so then that is very  & loads easier than compiling everything from source if you have a good internet conection.
I really wish RedHat would sort out the dependency issues associated with the RPM system.
