Have you tried unplugging the speakers?
who knows, can't hurt

Maybe unplug the monitor while you're in linux

Doesnt help solve the problem, but at least you'll be able to remove the variable from the equation...

Warning:
Cat door not compatible with Linux kernel version > 2.2.14
Don't know if its possible, but maybe move the cat door closer to the PC to see how it reacts.

If it goes crazier try to put it near something like the monitor to see if it goes crazier

OH
and you could also unplug the computer
That MIGHT just solve the problem
