Yes, the kernel in windows nt was advanced for it's time.
Windows 2000 was based on windows nt, which brought a whole new stability to windows.
Which is one of the reasons MS stopped support for windows 98, which means there aren't any newer drivers for windows 98, nvidia and ati have stopped this.
Which means you would need something newer than a 9x os.
